Introduction
An outreach strategy for DEI professionals. We use a simple data collection-to-data storytelling technique to create connections with new clients. This is a 5-day exercise; by the end, you can create a diagnosis and publish a scorecard.
The DEI Insight Research must be anonymous also for you, with no personal data. You will define the characteristics of the cohort. For example- GenZ, Middle Management, Gender etc. You have many other data points to choose from like industry, sector, size, designation, years of experience, education etc to make your selection of the group that you will perform the sprint
5-Day-Outreach-Sprint
Day - 1 Pick a company and a specific demographic and psychographic. Shortlist 20 employees of a particular company. Send them a personalised request mentioning that you are doing DEI Insight Research.
Day - 2 Prepare a 10-question multichoice Survey using any online tool. The key here is to pick a super-niche topic (like neurodiversity) that is your speciality and that you want to address to the head of Diversity of the company. Send the link to those with whom you are connected.
Day - 3 Design a 1-page Scorecard that will display your research insights. You can make it rich based on your conversation on day 2. Pick some show-stoppers to make it the star of the scorecard. You will already have some data from the early adopter from the 20 employees. You will only get 5-8 participants if you are lucky.
Day - 4 Follow up with each one who is connected to check if they got a chance to fill it. Once they reply, share the link to the Draft Scorecard. Pique their interest and engage in deep conversation about the insights. This is your opportunity to learn more about the gaps in the super-niche topic you are specialised in. They should get one of this 3 feelings like key insights, new learnings or aha-moment.
Day - 5 Reach out to the Head of Diversity of the company that would be interested in your insight scorecard. The scorecard must be purely anonymous. Play with the slice and dice of data and see if you can find any interesting insights to share in the scorecard.
